Our Impact

Small acts of kindness. Meaningful moments.

A birthday remembered. A present to open at Christmas. Something useful for a first home. These things might seem small, but when life is difficult, they can mean a great deal.

Our work is about bringing moments of happiness, easing a little pressure and showing children and young people that their community cares.

The need is closer than you think

Behind every statistic are children, young people and families with their own stories. These figures help explain the need for support, both here in Buckinghamshire and as young people move on from care.

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE · APRIL 2025

Around 14,000

children and young people were eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

When budgets are stretched, gifts and celebrations can be difficult to afford. Our appeals offer a practical way for the community to help.

ENGLAND · 2025

40% compared with 15%

of care leavers aged 19–21 were not in education, employment or training, compared with an estimated 15% of all young people of the same age.

This national picture helps explain why practical support for the next stage of life matters.

These are public statistics describing the wider need, not numbers of people supported or outcomes achieved by Inspire Bucks. Free school meal eligibility is not a count of all children experiencing hardship.

More than a gift

We can’t take away every difficulty a family faces. But we can help create a brighter moment. These are the differences we aim to make.

Joy

A chance to enjoy a birthday, Christmas or Easter. A moment of excitement and something to look forward to.

Belonging

The reassurance of being remembered and included. A gift that says: someone is thinking of you.

Relief

One less expense or worry for a parent or carer. A little breathing space when there’s already a lot to manage.

Confidence

Practical help that can make a young person’s next step feel more manageable. This is at the heart of our plans for Inspire for Life.

Helping the next chapter begin

Starting life independently can be exciting—and daunting. For a young person leaving care, having the right equipment and someone to help them make use of it can make the next step feel less overwhelming.

Our Inspire for Life pilot is planned for early 2027. We aim to combine practical gifts with guidance: perhaps equipment for a first home alongside help with everyday skills, or a laptop to support learning and job applications.

These are the benefits we’re working towards. The pilot has not yet launched, and we need funding and practical support now to help get it off the ground.

Help us make more moments matter

You don’t have to solve everything to make a difference. A gift, a donation or an offer of practical help can be the start of something good for a child, young person or family in Buckinghamshire.
